Overpass

The brick that makes this lamp’s base was found on the side of a road after a concert, tucked in the shadows under an overpass. Its new home was the back of my car for three or four months, largely forgotten. Months later, I came across the glass brick abandoned under a dark shelf and knew I had found the missing piece.

Sometimes, you know you have a piece of a puzzle, but you aren’t sure where the others are. Or, that’s just a nice way to rationalize being a hoarder. I’d like to think I walk the line between the two.

Now, neither piece remains in darkness; together, they cast a gentle and reassuring glow.
